Does the Glass Back Cover Adhesive need to be replaced on reassembly?

Hi there,

I was about to take my OnePlus Nord back cover off to test something with my vibration motor and realised that I might have to replace the adhesive when putting things back together. I am new to taking phones apart that use glue, so I wasn’t sure how this would work, especially since the Nord doesn’t require a heatgun to remove the back.

Do I need to replace the original adhesive before putting the rear cover back on, or does it fit back together without doing that using other connectors or possibly the original adhesive?

Options

Would recommend getting adhesive for water-resistant but you should just be able to slap it back on if you really need to

Thank you for your answer. I do actually need it to be water resistant, because I use my phone a lot on my motorbike.

Would you say removing the adhesive with acetone and then using one of these to put it back on would work?

Tesa 61395 Tape

Polyimide Tape

Do you know what type of adhesive or glue would be best and also keep the water resistance?
