My friend plugged his vape into his Xbox.

It turns off randomly, it doesn’t connect to the monitor correctly, And it doesn’t show anything when connected.

I don’t have this Xbox right now. So I can not look at it but this is what my friend said it does.

So if you can think of anything or know of anything to look for when I open it please let me know.

Hi @tcvids,

Assuming that the vape was plugged into a USB port, then I would suspect a problem with the +5V power supply in the console.

You could try resetting the PSU by disconnecting the power from the console for about 10-15 seconds and check if that fixes it.

If not, check the voltage on the Vcc pin of the USB connectors before opening the console and ensure that it is +5V DC (see image below)

If not you will have to open it up to find out.

I can’t find a schematic for the Xbox One S but here’s a link that shows the various voltages on the Xbox One motherboard that may help or maybe not. (scroll down to the 3rd image in the link)

Here’s the ifixit Xbox One S guides, that may help with the disassembly

Do you know I would check the voltage on the pins?

@tcvids

You need to use a DMM (digital multimeter).

With the console switched on, set the meter to read 20V DC and then connect the meter's red test lead to the VCC pin and the black lead to the Gnd pin of the USB port.

Be VERY CAREFUL not to bridge the red test probe between the VCC pin and the metal shell of the USB port or the pin next to it, as this will cause more damage to the voltage supply or the USB controller.

Maybe better to open the console and measure from the board side of the USB connector.
