MacBook Pro 2018 won't turn on

Hi,

This is my first time dealing with such issues and having no clue whatsoever. At first my Macbook turned off while watching some video and it won't turn on even after trying all the possible troubleshooting methods out there. Even tried troubleshooting with an apple executive but din't turn on. So, I went to the Apple service centre and they said as my Macbook was out of warranty they'll diagnose the device which will cost be 2500 INR (25$) to which I agreed. And then I got a call from them that there's some issue with the motherboard and it'll cost me 85k INR (1150$) for the repair and the problem is they didn't mention what was the exact issue with the motherboard. I told them I don't want to get the repair done as I found it to be too expensive and didn't wanted to shell out that kind of money. Now I'm able to get my Macbook into DFU mode but I'm not able to restore it as the second device is a Macbook Pro 13" which I'm not sure will work. So my question here is this:

Can a faulty motherboard laptop go into DFU mode? Also shouldn't Apple care centre tell me about the exact problem the Macbook is having?

Some more info: The dead Macbook was on Monterey beta and I'm not sure if that's the reason it's not restoring on the Apple configurator 2.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Go back to the Apple Store! Print this out Apple fixes bug that caused macOS Monterey update to brick some Apple T2 Macs and this Apple Man page: Revive or restore an Intel-based Mac using Apple Configurator 2

If you have a second system you could give it a try your self. Go Luck!

@danj thanks for your suggestions but I did call apple support to get more information regarding the issue regarding my MacBook and it seems the issue is with the logic board and not software. So will visit a local repair shop.

Also I did try the Apple configurator 2 using another MacBook Pro but got error. So I think it indeed is a logic board issue.

error:

The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error 6 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg (Operation failed)) [AMRestoreErrorDomain – 0x6 (6)]

Thanks

Sorry if the configurator failed then you have no choice then getting a new logic board. Don't forget to score the answer and accept it - Thanks!
