How do I get remove acetone stains off my laptop? Dell Inspiron 3593

I accidentally spilled some acetone on my laptop and it left a slightly white residue and I’ve tried almost everything and all of them didn’t work. Not quite sure if it melted.

@nebulas what make and model is your Laptop. It is possible that the acetone tarnished the anodized aluminum if your laptop has that type of body. We won't know unless you tell us.

@oldturkey03 Hi! Sorry for the late reply, my laptop's Dell Inspiron 3593 Core i7 10th Gen, I'm not quite sure what it's made out of.

When it comes to plastic staining, it’s ruined forever - you will need to replace the chassis parts which were damaged to fix it. That said, depending on the extent of the damage you may be able to live with it depending on where, due to Dell’s tendency to plastic weld the keyboard in, or making it a real (and expen$ive) pain to swap.

The only logic I can pick up is it seems to be based on the series and if its business class or consumer grade, and even then Dell plastic welds it into the Lat 3000 (these are Inspirons with a different name, like Vostro). 5000/7000/9000 are usually screwed in, but the motherboard needs to come out. The main customer for the 3000 series is school districts who want a disposable student laptop. However, Chromebooks serve the same purpose.

Is there absolutely anything that will get it off without having to remove the keyboard?

I spilt some to and i’ve tried almost everything and I don’t want to get a new keyboard because it is a school laptop so please if there’s anything please respond.

@koala7 The 3593 integrates the keyboard with plastic welds. You need to replace the upper case if you can't replace the keys.
