How do I get remove acetone stains off my laptop? Dell Inspiron 3593

I accidentally spilled some acetone on my laptop and it left a slightly white residue and I’ve tried almost everything and all of them didn’t work. Not quite sure if it melted.

@nebulas what make and model is your Laptop. It is possible that the acetone tarnished the anodized aluminum if your laptop has that type of body. We won't know unless you tell us.

@oldturkey03 Hi! Sorry for the late reply, my laptop's Dell Inspiron 3593 Core i7 10th Gen, I'm not quite sure what it's made out of.

When it comes to plastic staining, it’s ruined forever - you will need to replace the chassis parts which were damaged to fix it. That said, depending on the extent of the damage you may just want to live with it depending on where, due to Dell’s tendency to plastic weld the keyboard in, or making it a real pain to swap. The only logic I can pick up is it seems to be based on the series and if it’s business class or consumer grade.

As far as how they handle it, it can be done on my Lat 7490 and even the Lat 5000 series, but the motherboard needs to come out. On this machine, it's held in with plastic welds and not screws, which is common with Inspirons. However, the Lat 3000 series is also done this way since they're Inspirons with a Latitude badge, with the main users buying them for school use. Their Chromebooks are also popular for the same group.

Is there absolutely anything that will get it off without having to remove the keyboard?

@koala7 The 3593 integrates the keyboard with plastic welds. You need to replace the upper case if you can't replace the keys.
