Screen not sitting in frame, screen seems slightly too large

Just got my new screen in for the iPhone X, the repair itself went fine and the screen works great, however, when I try and finish the repair by putting the screen back into the frame it won’t fit! SIM card slot had been taken out already, it’s like there’s a border going around stopping it from going in properly

Have you checked that the metal frame from the old screen is also taken out and isnt left in the housing?

by

Yes the old screen was a bad third party one. I barely had to pry it out, it was missing the metal brackets on the sides and it also didn’t have the microphone and earpiece that you switch over. There’s nothing there. I thought it was the black piece that goes around the whole phone. But there’s a metal bit inside on the left and it seems to be stopping the metal brackets going down, could it be that? Seems like it supposed to be there

Can you post a pic ( a close up one) or is your housing bent or having a dent in the corner?

I see exactly what the issue is now. The screen has separated from the frame. Call up ifixit and submit a warranty claim. It’s an issue we see from time to time in the repair industry. I’ve seen it happen a few times with my screens as well.

Yep that’s what happened, I thought it looked odd but it seemed like it was supposed to be there! I was able to get it out and get it switched. Thanks for the help!
