What caused a swollen battery on our S10e?

One of our Samsung S10e phones revealed a slightly bowed screen and back that was diagnosed as a swollen battery. It’s my wife’s phone that gets used often on extended calls and she complains of its getting hot. My identical S10e is relatively rarely used and hardly ever heats up. What might have caused hers to? They are both on wireless chargers most of the time.

Hi,

Here’s a link that describes most of the reasons that can cause a swollen Lithium battery.

The battery will have to be replaced and responsibly disposed of as it is dangerous in this condition.

Here’s the Ifixit Samsung Galaxy S10e Battery Replacement guide that will help.

Ifixit also sells replacement batteries for the phone. Just click on the Parts link in the guide.

If doing this yourself is too daunting, contact a reputable, professional mobile phone repair service and ask for a quote.
