Can I install a 12.5MM HDD in this laptop

I am considering a WD 1TB laptop drive and it turns out it's a 12.5MM drive

Apple ofers 12.5MM drives for the new MacBook Pro laptops, but I like this one and will use it for 2-3 more years before I upgrade(i'm avoiding sandybridge due to the chipset defect that Intel admitted to)

does this take a 12.5MM HDD or am I stuck with a 750GB drive?

Yes. 12.5mm thick hard drives can fit in your MacBook Pro 17 However such a kind of drive will not fit inside 15 and 13'' models.
