Part of theSurface Laptop touch screen does not respond to touch?

A 1 inch wide portion from top to bottom on the right half of my Microsoft Surface Laptop does not respond to touch. However, the mouse works just fine and there is no problem to the other area as they respond to touch.

Does the screen have any cracks or big scratches in it? One thing you may be able to try is run the Windows 10 calibration utility. Open the start menu and search for “Calibrate”. One of the options that should pop up is “Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input”. Select that and then click the “Calibrate” button in the Window that shows up, then select “Touch Input”. Select “Yes” to the UAC prompt and the calibration tool should pop up with instructions. If you get to the bottom portion and still can’t continue, you can hit escape to leave the tool.

If calibrating the display doesn’t help, my bet would be that there is an issue with the digitizer. Unfortunately this model has earned a 0/10 for repairability for a good reason. It is basically impossible to get into this thing without destroying parts of it. If you do attempt repairs I wish you the best of luck.

Edit: Fixed some spelling.
