Right speaker replacement. What glue should I buy?

Hi,

I just bought the right speaker replacement for my MBP 16”. I saw from the teardown video of my machine that it’s supposed to be glued on the chassis (although it’s not shown how to remove it). I will be removing the old broken one and replacing it with the new one, so where should I find the glue to attach it? And which type/brand of glue should I look for?

Thanks for anyone willing to help.

You want hot glue which is tacky

Use a heat gun or hair drier to warm the uppercase to soften the glue. Use care as you don’t want to melt the keys nor damage the touch bar or display use foil protect them.

Take care it doesn’t take much glue note the placement and the amount Apple used

Thank you Dan.

Sorry if it's a dumb question but, isn't it risky to put foil (imagine aluminum) on logic board, components etc?

@alfabaco - Yes & No!

The foil is to cover the outside surface which is the one you are heating to soften the glue holding the internally mounted speaker. We are protecting the Touch Bar & keyboard from being damaged and melted.

@danj Thanks, but I managed to extract the old speaker without using additional heat, I guess because air temp already was quite warm.

Now everything works just fine, the speaker came with already applied adhesive, so didn't even have to use glue, great!
