Broken screen replacement query

My Mid-2014 15” Retina MBP has a broken screen (A3198 emc 2881). My friend has a 15” 2012 15” Retina MBP (A1398 emc 2512) he no longer uses. Is there any way I can replace my faulty screen with his, or are the two totally incompatible?

Sorry if my question is stupid, I’m having a hard time finding out online.

Many thanks,

Dan.

Unfortunately the display from the 15-inch 2012 Retina MBP is not compatible with the 15-inch Mid 2014 Retina MBP. You can see the compatibility for each display listed here and here.
