Hi @latoderia ,

It may be a loose or faulty power jack in the device.

Here’s the ifixit Power and 3.5 mm Audio Adapter Jacks Replacement guide.

It shows how to access the power jack so that it can be checked and tested and also replaced if it is faulty

If it is not loose from the circuit board, use an Ohmmeter to check if it is OK from the inner pin connector and also the outer ring connector of the socket to where the connector cable plugs into the socket that the jack is connected to.

Sometimes with this type of socket the centre pin breaks internally in the socket and this will open circuit the power supply path to the device. If this is the case then it cannot be repaired and will have to be replaced. Replacement sockets are available from electronics parts stores or online.

Be aware though that there are two DC barrel type plugs and sockets that are very close in size so make sure that you get the right one to avoid any problems. The difference is not really discernible to the eye as it is only 0.4mm

There is a 2.1mm/5.5mm and a 2.5mm/5.5mm size.

The measurements are for the diameter of the inner connector and the overall diameter of the plug and socket i.e. 2.1mm inner, 5.5mm overall and 2.5mm, 5.5mm overall.

A 2.5mm plug will fit into a 2.1mm socket as the 2.5mm centre ring of the plug fits over the 2.1mm centre pin of the socket but it will be a loose connection and not snug so there may be intermittent loss of power problems.

A 2.1mm plug will not fit into a 2.5mm socket as the 2.1mm centre ring of the plug will not fit over the 2.5mm centre pin of the socket.

Basically make sure that you get the correct socket that fits the plug of your AC adapter. Take the adapter with you if you go to an electronics parts store and try in in the socket to check if it is a snug fit.
