Help me fix non-functioning down key in MacBook Air (I have all parts)
Hi, can you help me with the non-functioning down key on my MacBook Air 2017?
I looked here, and it looks like I’m on the right track: How to replace the Arrow keys (bottom))
All the parts remain: The black cover, The white mechanism and The white nipple
I tried using my screwdriver to push on the metal circle underneath where the nipple would go to see if it was a problem with my keyboard. When I press on that, the down key functions.
However, when I reassemble the whole key, it does not. What do I need to do to fix this?
Am I assembling it wrong? I followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8ncRaFM...
It looks like what I did is right, but the nipple slides all over the place, and even I use my screwdriver to press it to press the button underneath, my cursor does not go down.
Do I need to buy an install a new nipple? It seems like the nipples work as springs, could it have lost its “springiness”?
Or do I need to glue the nipple in place so it doesn’t slide around. I’m afraid if I do that and the down key doesn’t work though, I’ll be in trouble!
For example, I see in this listing to buy a listing a suggestion to glue: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rubber-Key-Plun...
Please help! Thank you.
Is this a good question?
the part https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rubber-Key-Plun... is not used in your system!

good eye! I wasn't sure but I was only using that as a "glue" example
