Is the headband replaceable?

Apple has anticipated replacing the ear cups but I really wonder about the head band. There doesn’t appear to be removable and seems like it will wear out rather quickly.

The headband is replaceable but the quote was $299 because they run wires through it. My netting wore out but I won't be paying that much just to replace that.

There’s a pin hole you can stick something like a SIM ejector tool into that will “eject” the headband. It feels replaceable.

I've looked closely but I can't see any pin hole. Do you have to fully retract the head band or something? Any hints on where to find it?

Remove the cushion, fold the headphones flat, and then there is a tiny hole centered at the top of the plastic where the cushion was. I circled it on this teardown photo: https://imgur.com/a/zJ8DiLa

Some time has passed since the question has been answered, we now know for sure that it is replacable. You have to press a small pin in the pinholes - for example the sim ejector tool of an iphone - and the headband will come off the speakers. Currently Apple seems to be the only source for replacement parts, though.

All of their products are designed with forced obsolescence and as little reparability as possible in mind. And their whole line of Airpods are no exception.

That doesn't really answer the question.

@Zachary Whitley have you ever had an apple product serviced by apple? Call them up and ask if the head band is replaceable. They are the manufacturer after all so they should know what's best.

Just exactly THIS AirPods is different from the other ones. Would you mind reading the teardown? Its surprisingly interesting how these headphones are done!

These AirPods are very repairable.

I’ve checked with Apple Genius Bar and unfortunately Apple is currently unable to offer replacement headbands.

Is there any third party headband I can use? Apple doesn’t provide this spare part.
