Automatic car start doesn't work. Says hood latch open

There is a switch inside the hood latch that monitors whether the hood is open or not. If the switch is stuck or faulty it will report as the hood being open. Follow the wires from the hood latch assembly to make sure there are no breaks, kinks, or damage. If the wires look good then 95% of the time replacing the hood latch assembly will fix this particular issue.

There is a switch that indicates that the hood is open. This switch disengages the auto start/stop function. I for one have purposefully moved the switch such that my Jeep always thinks the hood is open. This causes the auto start/stop function to not stop and restart my engine every time I stop at a traffic light, etc. If you want the functionality of this "feature" check on the drivers side of the engine compartment. You should find a small plunger type switch that is depressed when the hood is closed. In your case it may have become dislodged or be not working correctly. Hope this helps.
