Cannot make calls or record voice notes or videos

Hi - I have no idea what is going on. My iphone 7 plus seems to be functional in every way except that it won’t let me make calls or record audio.


I can call out on the telephone but people don’t hear me and I don’t hear them.


I can’t even call out via apps like whatsapp or messenger, it won’t let me dial.

The same is true of voice notes, won’t even allow me to start recording.

Videos will record but no sound.


If I attach a headset it doesnt change anything.


If, however, I connect to a speaker through bluetooth it DOES let me record a voice note, even though the speaker has no mic.


I feel it must be a software problem since obviously the mic and the top speaker aren’t working. but I have now reset the whole phone and erased all settings and the problem is the same.


I’m very far out of warranty so does anyone have any ideas before i simply have to buy a new one?

Options

This is a common fault on the 7 series. It is caused by flexing and breaks a trace under the audio IC. Most repair shops offer this repair as the audio IC will need to be removed and a micro jumper wire run. Than the IC re-balled and replaced. The usual cost is around $100

I think it’s part of the charging port assembly. I just bought an iPhone 7+ from eBay they said it tested perfectly. BULLSHIT. when. I got it it had no vibration I couldn’t record or hear calls or be heard when calling. All I could:do was text. Then all of a sudden my charging port was too tight I couldn’t get my cable in and then suddenly it was too loose. Back and forth. So I ordered a lightning port assembly since it covered all those issues. However, I’m stuck at a stripped screw someone previously had their way with. The Taptic Engine cable was severed and missing all its screws. And the loud speaker missing half its screws. I found those screws and more inside the phone. But this is just my thoughts on it. I had the same HAVE THE SAME problems. I was told after researching that it would be the most viable option Lightning Port Assembly. I changed the battery out first, had I known this would happen I would have retuned the battery. I bought both from Amazon for $37 with tools that are not up to par. $ 10 for the port assembly
