Can the LCD and digitizer cables be replaced?

Hello,

My sister recently tried to open her iPhone 8 Plus, and during the process, she tore the LCD and digitizer cables cleanly apart, so one end was connected to the mainboard and the other one still on the screen, but the cable is not in one piece. (I can get some pics if that’s confusing)

I have since removed the cables from the mainboard and ordered her a new screen (as that’s what I know can be done to replace the cables), but in the interest of saving money (and possibly TrueTone), is it possible to save the screen and just replace the cables? If so, where can I get them?

Thanks in advance!

If you want to save money by replacing just the cable, you’ll end up paying a whole lot more, possibly more than the phone’s worth.

Disassembling and replacing just the cable requires professional tools, which does not make sense to buy if you just want to do one repair.

It's pricier to get the cables than just the screen itself? Interesting.

I think this will be a one-time thing, so I guess I'll just stick to replacing the entire screen. Thanks for the pointer.
