Ok thanks!

I broke my screen and swapped to an iPhone 8 screen and took the home button from my old screen but it doesnt work at all. Does iPhone SE 2020 button never work with iPhone 8 screen or did I wreck it when swapping perhaps?

Nope. Starting from iPhone 7, the home button is no longer DIY repairable, other than for looks. It will not have Touch ID or button feature, dead as stone.
