Can not find Super Drive in Finder or Disk Utility.

Super Drive was recently plugged into a non apple laptop (did not work). When I tried to use it in my MacBook Air using Satechi Aluminium USB-C Multiport Pro Adapter it says USB Accessory needs power. (It worked before) Can the Super drive be fixed or is it best to just buy a new one??

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

It might be repairable! It depends on your skills and getting access to the needed parts.

When you plugged it in to the other systems USB port you some how damaged the logic (I wouldn’t use that systems USB port as it could damage something else)

Here’s a guide which will get you in and access to the logic board Apple USB SuperDrive Optical Drive Replacement

Checking the discreet SMT devices is about all you can do unless you can get a parts unit to swap out the logic board.

Otherwise you’ll need to get a replacement drive.
