I wouldn’t think you’d need to change out the mother board, I think a new Hard Drive would suffice. I don’t know how much you paid, but this could be an opportunity to upgrade to an SSD.

Follow the below steps to setup the new drive to use for ps4,

  1. Using a PC or Mac, create a folder named "PS4" on a USB drive formatted as FAT32. Inside that folder, create another folder named "UPDATE".
  2. Visit the PS4 system software update page and select the "Reinstall system software" section. Download the installation file and save it in the "UPDATE" folder. Save the file as "PS4UPDATE.PUP".
  3. Plug the USB drive containing the installation file into the PS4 console.
  4. Start the PS4 console in Safe Mode: press and hold the power button, releasing after the second beep.
  5. Select Safe Mode option 7: Initialize PS4 (Reinstall System Software).
  6. Select Update from USB Storage Device > OK.

If your PS4 console does not recognize the update file, check that the folder names and file name are correct. Enter the folder names and file name using uppercase letters.

I actually have a kiosk model and reinstalling the retail firmware and changing hard drive does not work. It will install, just like a retail console, but then it will send you through first time set up just like a retail console except it will skip the PSN portion because it knows it's still a Kiosk console. Without a kernel exploit on an exploitable firmware, removing IDU mode isn't possible. With the kiosk PS4, you can still play retail disc-based games, and you can modify most settings in "Staff Mode". Though you cannot launch games from Staff Mode or connect to PSN, you must reboot, and launch your disc from with the OMSK interface without Staff Mode on. Once you're in a game, you can enable Staff Mode again.

Disconnect Internet Press L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + UP + OPTION for 15 seconds to enter "Staff Mode". Go to the menu of the PS4. Launch the exploit. Go to the Debug Setting. Turn Off IDU Mode.
