Why is my calculator light not turning on?

I see the black text when I turn it on but not the white lcd light. I turned it on and the white backdrop flickered on and then off. It's usually off though. How do I fix it?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Dj DaMan  going by what you are describing, this sounds like a bad backlight. Check all connections/connectors to ensure they are properly seated and not bend, corroded etc. If all of that looks okay, you may have to try and get a new display

In addition to this, Dj DaMan, would you mind running a calculator's self-test to see how the calculator reacts to different brightnesses? (Tutorial: https://youtu.be/G1PR43Ol9T8 )

Turn the calculator on then press [mode]>[alpha]>[ln].

Press [enter] three times. This will take you to the diagnostics screen.

Press [2] then use the up and down arrow keys to force the display to change brightness.

If it starts working, could you please tell me the value next to the 'Current Level:'? It will look something like '0x95' because it's in hexadecimal instead of regular numbers.

If nothing changes even after trying oldturkey's solution, you'll need to find a donor TI-84 Plus CE to get the display out since it's not a separately sold part. Unfortunately, that's very expensive since it's rare to find a broken TI-84 Plus CE so if your calculator isn't that old, you may just have to use your warranty to get a replacement from TI-Cares here: https://education.ti.com/en/forms/global...
