Why is my SUV chugging in idle?

My SUV keeps chugging when coming to a stop and idling. It is fine while I’m driving. The rpm gauge jumps up and down slightly in idle as well. I was told to use Mystery Motor Oil. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Any engine light or codes? Sometimes the coil packs get wonky and only work when the cpu asks for higher rpms. Used to own many volvos and fixed them regularly.

@caleymac what exact year and engine size is your Volvo? Besides "Mystery Motor Oil, what have you tried? How is your gas mileage? Has it gone up drastically? How is the performance when not at idle?

Rough idling can be caused by clogged filters. ... Bad spark plugs, bad spark plug wires and a bad distributor cap are other common causes of rough idling. These items are all important parts of what keeps a vehicle running. Spark plugs provide the spark that ignites the air and fuel mixture within the cylinders.
