iPad pro 2nd gen changed screen, worked but not now.

So I changed screen and glass on ipad pro 2nd gen.

I tested the screen, touch and everything worked perfect, I then added “glue” and closed down the ipad, I then headed the ipad up and placed the ipad in press over night.

Which I do to every ipad I repair.

The customer then came in and picked up his ipad, few hours later he called me and the touch does not work what so ever.

What am I doing wrong?

I fixed an ipad pro 3rd gen same time and did the same procedure and touch works perfect on that one.

Did you use actual glue or adhesive strips?

by

Please elaborate on what you mean by "glue"

by

Adhesive strips and sometimes 3m if the screen did not come with adhesive.

The only thing I could imagine is that the digitizer was bent after the inspection during the placement/pressing of the screen. Regardless, a new screen should do you just fine. I hope it comes in time before your customer gets too mad!

I will need to inspect frame tomorrow then.

Definitely worth a shot. I had a customer that brought in an iPad with a bent frame and I had only realized it after installing the new screen. Even the pressure from installing it on the slightly bent frame was enough to permanently damage the digitizer and I had to put on a new one. Good luck!

@n0v0 After looking at it closely with new screen, its bent barely noticeable at the bottom right corner.. I avoided touch issues now by being a bit carefull around that corner.

@vitoscaletta Glad I could help! Bent frames are a killer!

open it back up and reseat connectors. Also inspect them for damage. Where did you source the screen from?

I have done that multiple times, still no response. I have my supplier in hk, which I buy a lot of screens and parts.

by

@vitoscaletta have you tried another screen yet?

by

@hootonberg nope, have to wait for them to arrive, but I bought two just to be safe :P I might drop the press now or heat just to be sure.
