Trackpad on MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display (early 2013) Malfunctions

The trackpad on my early 2013 Macbook Pro has started to randomly stop responding. Sometimes it will cause the cursor to jump around the screen. Pressing down firmly on the trackpad gets it to start working again, but it feels like crumbs(?) are crunching underneath. I’m hoping this is just a cleaning issue and not a problem with the battery. I couldn’t find a tutorial about removing the trackpad to clean it, so if any of you has a link to a good one, it would be very appreciated.
