2012 MacBook Pro won’t turn on after charging, works after a week
Hi everyone!
I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro 15 that’s exhibiting some strange behavior. If I plug in the laptop and let it go to sleep, then it will not power on ( fans spin for a half a second, status light turns on for the same amount of time then the whole laptop returns to a dead state). However, I have found that if I unplug the internal battery for about a week, then it works fine again until it falls asleep while charging. Probably something capacitor related, because it’s discharging, but I have no idea what. There was some minor corrosion that I cleaned up, but included pictures of where it took place.
Is this a good question?
I think you really need to run the onboard diagnostics to see if you get an error.
Restart your system and press the D key
Mac startup key combinations

I would, but whenever I try to load up the onboard diagnostics, I get the ‘cannot load EFI/Drivers/TestSupport.efi' error. Good on apple for bricking their own products lol. Should I go into the apple store and get them to run the in-store version? @danj

@Hayden Peabody - Sadly they won't work on your system or run diagnostics on it as its Vintage and obsolete products
You'll need to find someone local who fixes Mac's. Where do you live? Country and nearest city lets see if we can aim you to someone.
