JC Home Button Compatible With Aftermarket Screens?

I have an iPhone 7 Plus that I am trying to replace the home button of. I have purchased two different home buttons and so far neither of them have worked. They were supposed to restore the home button click but not Touch ID. The only thing that I can see causing this would be the aftermarket screen that is on the phone. Based on the reviews it seems that I am the only one having this issue.

The aftermarket screens are fine with any universal home button. The most common cause you are facing is a tear in the home button flex cable coming from the screen to the home button connector on the logic board. These tears usually happen at the 90 degree bend. Sometimes they are that small you may need magnification to spot it. If this is the case you will need to purchase another screen.

I have a few spare iPhone 7+ screens with cracked glass. Would the universal home button still function if I don't fully install it and instead only plug it in?

Edit: Also, do these tears cause OEM home buttons to not work as well?

A small nick or tear in the home button flex cable whether it be an OEM or universal will cause the home button to stop functioning. You will not have to fully install the home button to check; as long as it is connected it will be fine.
