Changing the EEPROM chip for changing the serial number?

Hi!

I have changed the Mainboard of my late 2013 15‘ Dual graphics MBP and I would like to know if it‘s enough to swap the EEPROM from the old motherboard to the new one in order to keep the serial number.

As far as I know this should be possible but I‘m not sure about that.

I would like confirmation that I can change the Serial number that way before I swap the chips and mess something up by corrupting the EEPROM or sth like that.

I‘d love to hear some answers.

Thanks!

Why? Your system will work with the S/N it has with the new board.

Well, I would like to keep the serial number identical with the one on the original packaging.

@teslatyp - Even Apple doesn't do that any more.
