Keyboard replacement with old backlight?

Hello there,

I will replace my MacBook Air’s (A1466) keyboard with a new one. Can I use old backlights?

Will it work if I replace the keyboard with a new one and not replace the backlights with a new one? Or should I replace both with new ones?

Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

If you had a liquid spill (the reason you are replacing the keyboard) then you should replace both!

If the backlight of the old keyboard works fine, is it important whether there is liquid spill? I mean, the backlight is working fine right now. 4 or 5 keys do not work. I didn't pour any liquid, but I suspect a few drops of rain. Still, as I said, backlighting works.

What I want to learn is: Backlight and keyboard are two separate things? Will it work if I just replace the keyboard but use the old backlight?
