iMac Right audio output has crackling noise when using headphone jack

Hi,

the right audio output has the crackling noise whenever I use the headphone jack for any external devices. Does it affect the computer if I don’t fix it? and what should I do in order to solve the problem?

Thanks.

ccz827 sounds like a bad jack. What should I do in order to solve the problem? It is soldered to your logic board so unless you are planning to replace it by resoldering a new jack, I would suggest considering an external USB device to eliminate that. Does it affect the computer if I don’t fix it? No, it will not aadversely affect your device.

Hey oldturkey03, I've almost always found that when audio things get "static...E" sound like that, it's almost always a bad grounding on either the jack or plug end. Usually the jack end since it gets most abuse and the ground wire gets loose. Cheers Bud, Stay Safe!
