Home Button Not Working

Hi, Folks: I'd really appreciate some diagnostic help. In the recent hurricane, I found my phone had gotten a bit wet in my raincoat pocket. There was water around the home button. At first, the phone was going nuts, scrambling from screen to screen and the speaker wasn't working. Now, 2 days later, the phone has calmed down, it has charged and all features work fine except the home button...it does nothing. I get the dreaded "charging is not supported with this accessory" message and I have to shut down and restart to move around.

I tested the two poles of the button and it is fine. I cleaned the docking board with contact cleaner and that was no help. Should my first step to be to replace the docking board? Thank you very much!
