Is the Factory HD Cable SATA III compatible for SSD Conversion?

Am upgrading the factory 500GB HD to SSD (the Crucial 1TB BX500) On the 2.5ghz i5 mid 2012 MBP running Catalina. I have read that the 2011 MBP Has only a sata 2 cable. Does the 2012 MBP have a factory SATA 3 or 2 cable installed? I know these cables had issues but mine seems to be working fine. Thx!!

The 2012 cable is wider than the 2011. Take a look at it here:

It gets damaged as it comes over the last step and onto the optical drive. On some machines the surface of the case is rough and the vibration of a standard disk drive can cause it to get damaged. I put protection on both areas to prevent this from happening.
