I have bought the replacement home button for my iphone 7, my touch ID sensor does not work. I know touch ID functionality will not work but this button should function as a normal home button. I restored the phone after the replacement and the button does not work. I tried unplugging the cable and plugging back in and still not working. did I get a faulty home button or am I missing something?

Before you send the home button back I would check the home button flex coming from the screen to the logic board. Check it under magnification especially at the 90 degree bend and look for a small tear. This is the most common reason the iPhone 7 home button fails after removing the screen.

is the flex available as a part somewhere? can it be replaced? my button stopped working too after battery replacement. Have visually checked for damage, couldn't see any. But haven't checked with magnification yet. Will try this. thanks.

Some replacement buttons are not compatible with the 7 and above. Where did you source your replacement from?

I purchased the home button from ifixit for the iphone 7.
Man I've heard nothing but issues from ifixit's parts lately, although I've never used them. Try ordering the JC one from Mobile Sentrix. Look for version 7. It's a little more expensive at $10 but you should get the home button functionality restored.

Good luck! I know in the past you could replace the home button on the 6s and below and you'd only lose TouchID.
