The unit shuts down after 15 sec. And I unable to buy the Thermal Fuse

I want it to work more than 15 seconds. My question is this: I cannot buy the Thermal Fuse .

Can I not use the Thermal Fuse? I want to short it so that it works.

Update (08/06/2020)

They have tons of fuses/regulators I don’t know which I should get. Do you have one in mind?

Don’t short it - you’re asking for trouble! It blew for a reason and you need to find out why before you do something that dangerous that kills any chance for repair.

Sometimes it’s nothing and something tripped it but it’s fine, but other times there’s an issue.

The problem started recently.

The more you use it the faster the it shuts off it is definitely not to have any other problems.

@fixit_18 It sounds like something is at fault and overloading it. You'll need to check the parts out and replace what's bad first before the fuse.

You would have to disassemble it to repair it.

Here are the images of how to take it apart and where to find the white thermal fuse to replace. Be careful in soldering because it is triggered by temperature (THERMAL fuse) so don’t rest the solder gun on the fuse for long. Ideally line them up with a vise or clip, then do a quick solder melt on top. Buy the fuse (102Celcius, 250 Volt, 10 Ampere) on ebay for like $3.

2 screws out. Carefully pull up the battery cover 1/2” off from the screw-side first, no more because you can snap off the other side. Now push it laterally (toward the leads you could snap off) and it will separate. Underneath is the battery pack and thermal switch.

I bought an assortment of 40 thermal switches for $12, because it was a better price per switch and you can use the others for hair dryers, vacuums, and coffee machines.

Update (04/10/2021)

Replacing the thermal switch did not work. I am including pics in case someone wants to replace it. ALso see the chrome-colored tool to extract the power leads in the backround of the last picture. I shrink-wrapped the fuse into the circuit.

Thanks for remembering me.

The problem is in my B&D pilot the fuse is not to be seen, it is hidden inside the battery, because it comes with one option.

Either you get a new one you have to change the battery or forget it.

They are amazing they claim change the battery assembly, but the battery is fine.

When the thing shuts down due to the thermal switch you should see a voltage across the switch. I didn't and I tried jumpering out the switch; that didn't work either. So I guess it ain't the switch. It's in the trash now after I took the batteries out to dispose of properly. Thanks for your efforts.
