Why won’t my laptop charge?

When I plug my laptop in to charge I occasionally get a green light for a split second, then nothing. I took it into Apple and they said it was the IO board but it has water damage so they won’t repair it. I replaced the IO board and still get the same issue. It was working perfectly until the battery ran out. Any ideas?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@natgleed natgleed tell us about the water damage and how you fixed that. Did you find anything corroded etc. when you repaired it?

Apple told me there was water damage, it must have been from when I was caught in a heavy rain storm. There’s no obvious signs to me, but I suspect it’s the cause of my issue. The laptop was working perfectly until the battery ran out, so this charging issue seems to be the only consequence of it. Thanks!

IF the battery is bad it will not charge go to setting find battery they may tell you to replace battery. Age is not a factor if new.

I can’t check the battery settings as I don’t have any charge to turn it in. Is there another way to check the battery?

Thanks, but it’s not the charger itself. I bought a brand new one from Apple and that didn’t fix it

@natgleed - I'm happy you got a new one but the damage maybe already done. And sadly its hard to tell the real from the fakes physically.

Did you check the MagSafe cable connector contacts and if needed cleaned the case connector?

Try taking it to Apple and see what they say now. If that doesn't work, check the battery port and clean it. It often gets lint, etc.
