Randomly shutting down while charging.

Hello, I have a Macbook pro mid 2012. Recently I had to change battery, for a greencell battery. I installed it. But now, when I am charging the notebook sometimes randomly the laptop suddenly changes its screen to black..i have to wait 2-3 minutes, it shut’s down, after I press a key, (no loging in screen) and everything is opened, when it shuts down..

I tried, recallibrating the battery, I tried SMC reset, NVRAM reset, setting the sensor motion to zero from terminal..but nothing helped…

Ps. When I am not charging the laptop, the error(black screen, shutting down) does not occur…

Any suggestions please ?

Hi,

3rd party batteries are the bane of my existence. Not to mention they are only slightly less expensive than getting a true Apple battery from Apple. Many 3rd party companies just pull or salvage batteries and use Hardware/Software to reset the cycle life. Arguably 90% of the batteries that are “New” on Amazon and other sites are refurbished and can have issues. First rule of diagnostics is to use “Known good working parts” The only way to solve this issue is to bite the bullet and get a replacement from Apple. If it still happens then hey, send it back to Apple and say WTH? If not the viola

If you buy off of eBay’s a fly by night outfit then I would agree with @iheartmacs

But! There are companies that see batteries which are new and have been tested and stand by them! How We Test the Quality of Batteries We Sell at iFixit

To answer your question Füleky László Apple's Vintage and obsolete products listing still is missing the MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) but time is ticking! This series was discontinued October 22, 2013. Apple tends to add it to the list five years after the last sale so let's say January 2014 or so, so its about to be entered! You still have a chance to get a REAL Apple battery but once its on the list that’s the end of it!

Even still iFixit sells the battery and warranties the battery so you can be assured its good! MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2009-Mid 2012) Battery
