RF OUT module failure

Hi,

I have a Humax HD-FOX T2 Set Top Box for recording and playing of TV and Radio media. The RF OUT has failed so that the box can no longer transfer the TV signal to the TV. I had a look inside and found that the RF OUT and RF IN are packaged up in a module. I wish to replace this. Do you have a guide or any information to help me with this?

Thank you.

Eric

Hi,

Can't find a service manual or even any spare parts for the box but isn't connecting to the TV using either the HDMI or scart connection an option?

Hi jayeff,

Thanks for replying. I’m no expert when it comes to AV equipment but I think the answer is no. I believe the station data has to gone into the Humax and then on to the TV via the Aerial. The think the Scart connection is for handling the recorded data from/to the TV.

Hi,

The set top box has the channel information and you then use the box's remote control to select which channel you want to watch etc.

The TV input has to be changed to HDMI (if that is how it is connected) and you don't use the TV’s remote control except to turn the TV on or off and to adjust the volume, although you can use the Vol. control on the box’s remote as well. You can even use the box’s remote control to operate the TV if your TV model is supported, check the user manual - link below

Basically the TV is a slave of the box. Everything is done by it as to what you watch, live TV or recorded TV or even time shifted TV.

Here's a link to the user guide Click on the Support link below the image of the set top box and then download the user manual to find out how to setup the box.

It has a setup wizard that will walk you through the steps. Just ensure that the box is connected to the TV via a HDMI cable, turn on the TV and change the TV’s signal input option (press the input button on the TV remote, use the arrow keys) to select the HDMI port that the cable is connected to in the TV.

Hi jayeffe,

Thanks again for your help. If I use the SetUp wizard will I loose all the programs I have set up to record?

Hi,

If you're using the STB to record TV then it is already tuned into the channels.

All you're doing is switching the output away from the RF out to the HDMI so that to change channels that you're watching on the TV you have to use the STB remote to change the channels on it and leave the TV set to the HDMI input.

As I said the TV is now a slave of the STB and all basic operations can be done on the STB except perhaps turning off the TV but that may also be able to be done using the STB remote (pointed at the TV IF the remote "knows" the TV code. Basically like using a universal remote control. Check the manual on how to do this.
