In June 2017 Apple updated its 13" MacBook Air with a newer Broadwell Intel Core i5 processor, resulting in slightly increased performance and battery life.

How to connect the logic board from eBay

I wanted to do a little side project and I bought a logic board of a Macbook Air from eBay. The listing says it’s tested and fully functional. I have 30 days to say if it doesn’t work. Wondering what’s the minimal hardware needed to boot up this board:

  • Needs to be connected to a Macbook Air screen, IO board and a power cable, yes? I think this is the minimum. Can someone confirm?
  • Does it need to be connected to a battery to boot? Fan?
  • Does it need an SSD with MacOS? Or can I make some USB and plug it into the IO board?

You just need the I/O board for the logic board to boot, but you will obviously be able to test only the functions relevant to the parts you have available.
