Not powering on. DC in board at fault?

Recently received this MBP which will not turn on using either battery, mains only or both.

Things I have tried:

  • SMC reset (no change)
  • Unplugged battery and used magsafe (no change)
  • Shorted the power pads (no change)
  • RAM taken out (no change)

When magsafe is connected it is a solid green bright light which never changes to orange. Pressing the BLI presents 5 flashes or green LEDs. Occasionally it flashes with only the first LED rapidly then goes back to the 5 flashes of LEDs.

Unplugging the battery and repeating this method, it is still flashes all LEDs 5 times. As the battery is disconnected I suspect it to be a problem with the DC in board. Took a closer look and to me it seems the board has had some sort of water damage? I was informed this unit had no water damage and none of the water indicators have been activated.

What do you think looking at the board? Am I on the right track to the fault?

DC-in board seems fine, I can’t spot any burnt or charred component but there’s a nasty light reflected in the picture that makes it difficult to see clearly. However if there was liquid damage you would see oxide or darkened solder/metal parts, there’s maybe just some light solder flux left on the board, quite common on small parts. A green light and battery indicator working just confirm a good onewire circuit and probably a working SMC, there’s another 90% of the board where the fault may be, impossible to tell more than this without thorough testing.

Is it possible for another area apart from the onewire circuit/SMC to not allow the battery to charge? I am looking to test some voltage readings but not sure where to start

@rossco90 You said the machine doesn't start at all. There's plenty of critical rails beside onewire/SMC..there are about 2000 components on a board. Unless you can read schematics, it will take plenty of time before you can figure out where to start.

Try this first.unplug the battery and mag-safe. Press and hold the power on button for ten seconds. Reconnect the battery and then the mag-safe. You should get a spontaneous re-boot.

Tried this and nothing happens. When magsafe is plugged in you can hear a sort of faint electrical high pitch tone which changes pitch when the power button is held down.
