Is my charging port still working?

My laptop was plugged in and charging. Came back to a flooded room and the adapter was totally submerged. The laptop is still working but the adapter is damaged.

The socket it was plugged into is currently not working as well.

Hi Nana Kwame

You mentioned that your laptop work and the adapter is damaged.

The easiest way is to test it, either find a spare or test it directly at the computer shop.

If the replacement adapter works, you purchase it. I think most shop are generally fine to do this test.

Do not test the old power adapter as it is not recommended. Most probably it has been shorted out and water will start working inside the circuit, damaging it further, corrosion and misc.

For the socket, I presume it is your power outlet.

There are some possibilities, either water is still inside the plug thus circuit breaker has been activated to cut off.

internal power socket has been corroded or damaged by water, so as the wires which might be damaged / rot.

For the power outlet, if you are unsure, check with a qualified electrician for troubleshooting.

Somehow I also think if you have insurance, you might like to check if they cover those damages, which you can claim on.
