How do I get rid of boot camp partition

My cousin wants to get rid of windows xp on boot camp but when i use disk utility nothing happens also when i go to boot camp it says the os must be formatted as a single i don't know but how do i get rid of windows

Wait, by saying "i go to boot camp" does that mean that you go to the Boot Camp Utility? Once you have partitioned with the Boot Camp Utility, you can remove the partition with it as well. If you partitioned the hard drive yourself without the Boot Camp Utility, then as Mayer said, your only choice is to repartition it, which erases it.

You'll need to use Disk Utilities from your system installation disk or other retail Mac OS install disk and reformat the drive. Do you need instructions on how to do this?

Actually he can delete the Windows partition from the BootCamp Assistant itself. Just go to the BootCamp Assistant application and you will see the option to delete the partition from there.
