Getting S.M.A.R.T. errors on Apple SSD disk.

Hi,

I have this problem: My Fusion Drive in my Mac Mini Late 2012 is failing. I have S.M.A.R.T. errors on the Apple SSD drive.

So I have decided to upgrade to an 1TB SSD Samsung 860 QVO. But, I have many errors. I can't restore from TimeMachine and I can't reinstall from internet. On reboot I have crash.

So can you give any help? It seems that my Mac Mini is searching for 2HD (Fusion) and not only one... so gives me errors. Is there a solution?

Bye

First you need to put your system back to its original config with the HDD and the SSD installed. Then you will need to break the Fusion Drive set so you can take the drive out. Follow this guide Split Your Fusion Drive Apart

Once you’ve done that you can then reconfigure your drives.

Are you sure you’ve identified the correct drive? This system has two 2.5” drives which look the same! So make sure you’ve ID’ed the correct drive.

Mac mini Late 2012 Hard Drive Replacement A common issue is the ribbon cables fail so you may not have a bad drive but a bad cable. That can explain your OS install errors.
