Blank screen after booting from bootcamp partition (power on + alt)

This MBP has been repaired doing a BIOS reflash to get rid of a damaged graphic card (well known issue for this model), so now only the base graphic card is used. It works completely fine in Mac OS.

The problem is when trying to start it from the bootcamp partition with W7 Ultimate.

The company that did the reflash informed me that they know this issue is a side effect of the modification of the BIOS but have not been able to solve it yet.

Windows starts normally and can be accessed via Remote Desktop, the “only” problem is that the display is blank at the MBP, probably because W7 is addressing the defective graphic board that used previously or is using the wrong driver with the base “new”card it finds.

Has anyone been able to configure W7 display drivers succesfully in this bizarre scenary?

Thanks a lot for any help :)

Giuseppe.

Sadly, I don’t think you’re going to find a solution here with a modified EFI.

You have two options reverting the EFI back to the original setup (if that’s even possible) or what I would do at this point is to locate a 2012 logic board!

Yes, you can upgrade your system to a newer logic board which will overcome the failed GPU issue. The system I’m working on right now is such a system was an early 2011 model which I upgraded to a 2012 as I too had a failed GPU logic board.

Thank you Dan for the info, I could not imagine a 2012 LB fitting in a 2011 MBP, just because I do not have experience with these hardw. Probably this could have been the solution of my first choice If I knew it before reflashing BIOS.

For the moment, I will not spend more money in this MBP, but will keep this info very handy.... Thanks a lot.
