Broken Trackpad SMD causes problems with keyboard and trackpad?

Hi,

I have the common problem of a non-responding trackpad and keyboard. (USB still working) I already changed the trackpad flexcable as suggested here:

Keyboard and trackpad are unreponsive?

Anyway it didn’t work out. So I took a closer look at the trackpad (I got the MBP used and the previous owner changed the battery some time ago) and saw some suspicious marks on the trackpadboard:

Compared to other images it looks like something is missing:

Do you think replacing the trackpad could solve the problem?
