Foreign object in oil crankcase

I accidentally pushed a piece of rubber approx 2” long from an oil change device into the crankcase of my John Deere riding mower and I can't get it out. Will it damage the engine?

Options

I would drain the crankcase, fish the object out and put the oil back in.
