MacBook reboots when plugged in

Monitor is a A1407 EMC 2432.

When I plugged in the thunderbolt and power to my MacBook pro it freezes and reboots. Nothing shows up on the monitor.

The power cord that is for the laptop does charge the laptop, so I know there's power there.

What could be causing the freeze up and rebooting my MacBook pro?

Thanks,

Turns out the cable from the screen to the board was loose. Plugged it in all good. Thanks

Are you using the same surge suppressor or UPS for the AC connections? If not I would give that a try. A mis-wired outlet could cause issues. Frankly I would use a UPS as power surges and lighting can kill your gear.

What is your MacBook Pro model? Have you tried using one of the other ports if it has one? Have you tried a second Mac to see if the issue is your system Vs the display?

I'll try the same power strip.

I've tried both MacBook pro MD314LL/A a1278 and iMac MD063LL/A a1213.
