HP Pavilion dv4-1283cl screen intermittently goes black

When I open my laptop (HP Pavilion dv4) and power on, the screen stays black. When I partially close the lid, I can see the start up screen running fine. If I reopen the screen, the screen goes black again. Does anyone know what caused this and how I can get it repaired?

The most likely cause of your problem is a loose, pinched or broken cable between the motherboard and the LCD. I am including a link to a generic Pavilion but it should be close enough to guide you through teardown and repair. If you feel this is beyond your skillset just google laptop repair or checkout the local shops in your area. Good luck.
