Can I use an older never charged or used 2017 battery for this?

I purchased a 616-0229 (30GB) in 2017. I never charged or opened it. It looks kie this is the same battery as used in the 160GB IPOD Classic. Is that correct? Will this battery still be good? Thanks!

You won’t know until you attempt to charge it. Next use a Mac and run Coconut Battery on it to see its exact status. Hit the iOS tab when using.
