Broken Butterfly Keyboard Key

One day, I was using my keyboard when the number 2 key was clicking weird, so I decided to take off the key cap to clean it out to stop this, but when doing so the entire mechanism came off. Is this covered by warranty? What should I do to get this repaired? I included a link to a photo of what it looks like now.

So if I just say it fell off, they will fix it for free?

by

yes, they will

by

ok but the membrane also ripped off that's in the new gen 3 keyboard. Will this affect their thoughts?

by

I wouldn't mentionvthe membrane, they have so many of these comming in they even extended the program to the 2019 machines, just in case.

by

ok. What should I say if they question it just falling out? I've worked on the membrane, so it looks like its a gen 2 keyboard now

Hey I'm having the same problem here. What do you say to the apple service? Do you need to change the whole keyboard?
