iPhone 7 homebutton not working

Hey I recently replaced my screen without a heat shield and a front camera, the original home button was install into the new screen.

It didn’t really fit in the home button slot but I managed to force it in, it didn’t push through fully so it isn’t flush with the surface of the screen and dips a little bit but it is installed with three of the screws onto the shield plate with the middle screw in the home button missing.

The home one button doesn’t work how ever , there’s no error on the screen or in settings that Touch ID isn’t working too and but it doesn’t and when I use assistant touch it to go home the button still vibrates too ?

Whats causing it

The screw that attaches from the home button to the bracket that goes behind the home button is required it provides grounding from the home button to the screen else it won’t work at all.

Since one tri-wing screw is missing for the plate the optimal configuration would be to have the 3 tri wing screws located closest to the home button, leave the one near the connector empty.

To be honest, it sounds like you were pretty rough on the replacement since you had to force it in and it’s not sitting flush. The button and cable are very sensitive and can micro fracture causing irreparable damage. First, I would try another screen. Sometimes the home button connection on the screen and or the connector to the mainboard can malfunction.

Did you force the button in from the back of the display? It’s supposed to be installed from the front.

Vibrating or not doesn’t indicate a working button, vibration comes from the Taptic Engine.

Most likely the button is deformed, cracked within or torn cable somewhere.

I heard some of the cheap screens don’t detect it or is that because of it’s not the original home button or ? And yeah I forced it through the back hahahah

Forced through back would mean a extremely high chance of the home button cable getting damaged.

It's probably going to need the home button replaced. Either via a screen replacement from apple or an aftermarket JC Bluetooth home button with no touchID.
