Upgrade from Tiger to Leopard

Im trying to put Leopard on a mac mini (very first one). When I insert the disc all is good until I click to install. It boots up to black screen and color wheel. Can this machine be upgraded?

Thanks!

Please tell us about the upgrade disk you're trying to use. Is it gray?

If you are trying to boot from a grey disk, these are for specific models and will not work for all macs. If you have the correct disk, the mac mini G4 should be able to run up to 10.5.8.
